This past June,
Meron's Expo Zack Welch and CR Tunes Mudhen Matt Dahlin were
drafted into the independent New
York State League as professional ballplayers. Their selection
reflects highly not only on themselves as individual ballplayers, but on
the quality of player produced by the CVBL on the whole.
Further, both players have acquitted themselves well:
both were selected to the league's All-Star team, and Dahlin's 0.47 ERA
over 19 innings earned him the league's Grover Cleveland Alexander award
for most valuable pitcher. For
Dahlin, the odyssey continues even now: following his spectacular NYSL
showing, he has been signed by the Midwest Sliders of the
Frontier League, one of the
most highly regarded independent leagues in baseball today.
The CVBL commends Zack and Matt for their outstanding
play, and wishes them all the best in their future baseball endeavors.
